Kent Smith Kent Smith is an award winning Member of the Euclid Board of Education in Euclid, Ohio. He was first elected in 2001 and was re-elected in 2005. During his six years on the Euclid School Board, he has served as the Legislative Liaison and the School Board President. In 2006, Kent Smith became the local head of the Democratic Party, a position called the Euclid City Democratic Leader.

Kent Smith has testified before several government bodies including Committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. He was the youngest Chief of Staff in Cuyahoga County Government and also worked as the Executive Director of Euclid Community Concerns – a fair housing organization. Recently, he has worked in the Internet Crimes Against Children unit of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office. One of his responsibilities was designing undercover, on-line, investigation strategies.

He has a Masters Degree in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Economic Development Program at Cleveland State. Kent Smith has worked as an Adjunct Researcher for Policy Matters Ohio and was a Contributing Writer for the Cleveland Free Times for three years.

He has partnered with Cleveland artist Derek Hess on a book called "Please God Save Us". The book pairs Hess’ internationally known art and drawings with Smith’s writings. Topics featured in the book include, The Iraq War, The Influence of the Religious Right, The Republican Economic Agenda, Global Warming, Stem Cell Research, Evolution, The Media, and Rock and Roll and Censorship. It is scheduled to be released on July 4, 2008. His next book is anybody’ guess. He can also make a pretty mean lasagna. Member of the Euclid School Board. I have served as Board President and as the Legislative Liaison. Son of two public school teachers.
